Called to be Saints: New School Year is Underway!
The 2016 -17 school year, our 11th, began Tuesday morning, September 6. Even the drizzle couldn’t deter the joy on every face – students eager to return, and parents eager to have it be so!
As with each recent year, the morning began in prayer shared around the Commons. The short liturgy, prepared by our student leadership during August pre-service days, highlighted our theme for the year – “And Holy is His Name” – a verse from the Gospel of Luke that underscores how each of us, by the power of the Holy Spirit, can be a saint for others. This grace, when shared unconditionally, can nurture truly amazing results. In the words of Pope Francis, “If you are what you should be, you will set the whole world on fire.” It also gives us one more way of explaining how we animate our Schoolwide Learning Expectations (SLEs) to Serve, Lead, Love and Learn. If we can take a step each day toward that goal, we will accomplish miracles.
