St. Madeleine Students accept the NCEA Student to Student Disaster Relief challenge.

Student to Student – A St. Madeleine Sophie School Challenge

Our hearts and prayers are with Catholic schools and all those affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. In keeping with our mission to serve others, the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) has launched a campaign asking every Catholic school family around the country to contribute at least $1 per student to help Catholic schools impacted by the storm to rebuild, reopen and re-enroll students. “Student to Student: A Catholic School Response to Hurricane Relief” is a powerful opportunity to engage students in living the Gospel message of compassionate service and generosity to others.

Through this initiative, NCEA is asking for contributions from students and families enrolled in all Catholic schools to assist their peers. The goal for our school is $200.  Should we reach that goal, a generous donor has offered to match that amount giving us a total of $400!

NCEA will distribute 100% of the funds collected to dioceses in the affected areas for their Catholic schools in vital need of support due to the impact of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.

UPDATE – SMS students generated over $1300 toward the fund in concert with the anonymous donors.  The check was mailed to the NCEA during the first week of October.  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

Individual donations can still be made online at www.ncea.org/NCEA/donate.
